Rainforest Canopy & Zipline Expedition
Description
A high-flying, treetop activity that is perfect for the thrill-seeking adventurer. The Rainforest Canopy Zipline features eight lines, one aerial skybridge, and delivers high-adrenaline fun in the setting of the lush Tongass Forest.
Round-trip transportation is provided, and you'll start the journey with a pick-up right near the cruise docks in downtown Ketchikan. Upon arrival at Herring Cove, a 4x4 Unimog carries you up the steep hill to the canopy chalet. Your expert guides will go over a detailed safety orientation, then you'll gear up for your fun adventure through the stunning rainforest. Towering sitka spruce and cedar dominate this area, and you'll soon be "flying" in between these monstrous treetops! Any nerves will be settled as you ease into the course with the first and shortest line at 100 ft. Put your faith in your trusty guides as you work your way towards the exhilarating 600 ft zipline!
Did we mention this course backs up to a 40-acre rainforest sanctuary? Eagles and sometimes black bears are spotted below while you soar through the canopy above. Three skybridge connect the platforms and provides great photo opportunities. The highest point, 135 ft above the forest floor, provides incredible views of the landscape. You'll finish the last zip station over the grassy wetlands to a viewing tower at 55 ft above the ground. Here, you'll rappel down to complete your canopy adventure.
Before your return transporation back to town, explore the private reserve that includes a historic sawmill, totem park, raptor exhibit, and gift shop. If you're looking to get into the Alaskan outdoors with a tinge of adventure built into the mix, we highly recommend this excursion for you!
